Twenty seconds

This collection is intended to express the pain that a individual feels inside when entering a certain intimate relationship. When one enters a new intimate relationship. Many times I feel like I am walking naked through a deep forest of red thorns. There is nothing we can do or not do to resist the damage we suffer from an intimate relationships. One of the piece in the collection is called “20 Seconds”. It is a painting in which I observed and recorded on camera the changes in my own eyes during the 20 seconds when I perceived the intense mental pain. Each blink is a reflection of the painful struggle within me, so I painted the entire 20 seconds of blinking. The red paint represents a very strong and clear expression of my insecurity, uncertainty, and fear of being harmed in intimate relationships. Hence I painted a picture of me hiding inside a giant red square with only my feet showing. This is very much a reflection of the way I choose to avoid the pain by lying to myself like a timid child whenever I am confronted with hurt. This collection will go on in an endless loop.
There is no end to it.
